It is interesting that a nut job who happens to be from the south, waves a confederate flag and then shoots nine people and suddenly it is the flags fault. America I have news for you yes the flag was inappropriate but it is also covered by the 2nd amendment and to be honest not the reason this man lost his mind and brutally killed nine innocent people. He was taught by someone somewhere how to hate in a deep and profound way.
Now while we are all thinking about that statement let’s talk about all the times someone gets on a soap box and spouts political correct gibberish and called someone else a name, this act is planting the seeds of hate folks. First cut the political correct bullshit, this country has had enough of that, let’s start to have real conversations about real issues and could we put our feelings away for a few minutes and act like adults. Second instead of calling someone a name or expecting the world to agree with every little thing you say could we actually agree to disagree from time to time and stop acting like those issues drive our friendships or even mean something more than they are. In fact most of the times these disagreements are real learning moments and in learning we become better people.
Alas having an open mind and caring about one another does not fill the pocket books of Al Sharpton and those of his ilk, so America could we turn our backs on that kind of rhetoric, say enough and speak your mind like an adult, calmly and intelligently so we can talk and maybe we can come together before some other knucklehead decides no one is listening to him and the only way to make a point is to shoot someone else. Hate does not change the world, hate just breeds hate but love, and compassion can change the world in beautiful ways, isn’t it time we put down our political agendas and do the right thing for a change.
Now back to Mr. Roof, what if someone at an early age taught this man about equality and how we can help each other instead of the race driven rhetoric he understood, we will never know but I would guess that Nine people would be with their families today and there would be a lot less grief in the world.
