Kerry went on to say that this disagreement is due to the Senate thinking this is a legally binding plan and then goes on to say this is not legally binding and therefore they do not need the Senate consent or at least implies this. Here is question for you sir, if the plan is not legally binding than what is the point? After all if what is being negotiated is a treaty which no one intends on following because there is no legality to it, why even negotiate it? Kerry also brought up a good point, Congress has no constitutional authority to adjust or rewrite any negotiations but he forgets to say it does have the right of consent, which means it can say no thank you to the President if they do not agree with the agreement in the first place, and to put a finer point on this, it is not Congress which can do this but specifically the Senate, the very people who wrote the letter and stated they would, which in the end is probably stopping Iran from wasting their time as it should.
Oh and one last point, to be ratified the Senate needs what we call a super majority which is two thirds vote in favor, which means 67 Senators must agree with the President to get any kind of ratification, which will be impossible if the 47 Senators hold their ground. Yet as this argument goes on we forget that all Obama has to do is include Congress in what he is doing and compromise as well, something he has been unwilling to do all along and is really the problem with this administration.
As far as John Kerry goes I find it interesting that he is suddenly for warfare and wants to lead the political charge against ISIS, something the men that served with him in Vietnam say he never did as an Officer in the Navy Reserve. I wonder if when Mr. Kerry thinks back to that moment he was making up most of those stories about foon stocks and genital electrocution if he knows he actually did what he is now accusing others of, probably hard to find any kind of moral high ground when in the end you are a lying dirt bag that spent your youth standing on the bodies of dead heroes.
