“Dear Mr. Dawson:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your desire to impeach President Barack Obama and your concerns about the Executive branch of government. While I appreciate your views on this issue, I do not believe that President Obama has broken any law or perpetrated any impeachable offense.
Governing requires collaboration between elected officials and their constituencies as well as between the different branches of government. I believe that differences between ideologies can be resolved through compromise and cooperation. As a newly elected freshman member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I have promised to work together with all members of the House , from both sides of the aisle , to find common ground and move our country forward.
I hope to continue to have an open and honest dialogue with my colleagues and the President so that together we can continue to make progress for the nation.
In the future, please do not hesitate to contact me about any topic. It' s important for me to hear your views so that I can best represent you and the Fifth Congressional District….”
(The letter goes on about how to follow Rep Kildee on twitter and facebook, I decided not to support that action)
I find this letter interesting because recently another House Representative stated “"He's just absolutely ignoring the Constitution, and ignoring the laws and ignoring the checks and balances. The problem is, what do you do? For those that say impeach him for breaking the laws of bypassing the laws — could that pass in the House? It probably could. Is the majority of the American people in favor of impeaching the president? I'm not sure." Said by Rep. Lou Barletta
This makes the problem whether the Senate will find him guilty or not and whether the decision will be popular with the people.
1. Let the senate decide that, do your job
2. If you do what is right and he is breaking the law then impeach him, it is your duty as a Congressman. No one said you would win any popularity contests this way.
This seems like a simple issue, if the President is breaking the law, which he has admitted to with the Bergdahl trade (He is guilty of so much more) then impeach him and let the Senate try him at least the House has done the right thing and then it becomes the responsibility of the Senate, who will bear the public’s response on how they handle this situation and maybe they should. It is not your job in the House to worry about what the Senate will do but to act in an honorable and correct fashion. The President has broken the law and should be impeached, so impeach him. The people will hear the evidence from the senate hearing and will agree with or disagree with their ruling.
It amazes me that this is still a debatable issue in the House, do what’s right for this country and stop worrying about your reelection, the people will stand by an honest man/woman even if you are wrong before they will stand by a politician who is worried about themselves.
