No for me the first problem is Jeb’s last name, in fact it is exactly that minor detail that I feel Jeb will probably stumble before reaching the finish line in the race for the Presidency 2016. I am really not sure if the name is really a hindrance but the perception of Jeb’s last name comes with some political baggage and really who will believe his brother and father will have little to no input on his Presidency, even if that is true no one will believe it. Now Mr. Bush comes with some big pluses and some major deficits but let’s look at the plusses first.
Mr. Bush has run and held office through reelection as the governor of Florida as the first republican ever to do so and held a pretty good record at that post. He reduced the size of government and in turn reduced taxes, something I am sure most conservatives agree was a good thing and is needed at the national level. He supports gun rights and is against useless unions particularly in civil service.
Now some of the negatives, we can start with his name and pedigree which in truth is both a plus and a minus for him but then there are two issues that worry most conservatives, Jeb Bush is a defender of Common Core and he is a defender of the current administrations immigration stance. This pushes Mr. Bush for most conservatives to a place that makes him impossible to vote for.
On other issues Mr. Bush is for nourishing our current alliances such as NATO and Israel +
He falls in the middle of the environmental debate for saving wildlife, against drilling in the gulf, but for more state autonomy X
Agrees with Hillary Clinton on several issues to include Environment and Common Core -
Against a fair tax system but is middle of the road on other issues -
Wants an end to the welfare state but understands something must be in place +
On the idea of government reform Mr. Bush is level with most conservatives +
It seems he is against Gay Marriage but for civil unions and has stated that LGBT legality is the same as legalizing sodomy -
For reducing the budget and against the stimulus which is also in line with most conservatives +
All in all it appears Jeb Bush has many qualities that conservatives admire but he is confusing in some like Gay Marriage which will be an issue for the next President and has some large issues he is for that most conservatives will stand against like immigration reform and common core. All in all this leaves Jeb Bush with a grade of a D+ by Worldview by Dawson and this is primarily in response to his Common Core and Immigration stances, had those issue been handled differently he would be graded much differently.
