Now I am still behind Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin 100%, I believe either one would make a great candidate or possibly together the best pair to enter a Presidential race ever. They are intelligent and plain speaking and they do not back down. My impression of both is that they want to do the right thing, not just anything and the right thing is whatever is within the constitution and good for the people.
Now I have heard those that speak of the constitution as that document that has no meaning today as the world has grown and the document has not. I like to ask them if they understand what an amendment is? The document does change and in the ways it should not change it does not, making it the best type of document for the peoples protection ever written. How do civil liberties go out of style? How can ones right to personal privacy, speech or religion become so old they are not useful anymore? Those that say the Constitution has grown out of touch are the same ones being held at bay by the constitutions protection of the common citizen. Beware anyone who thinks they can create a better document to protect your rights, they may just want to take those rights for their benefit, and in many cases that is their only motive.
Some have said that the constitution does not tackle some large modern issues, I say good, let us debate them and change until we find the truth of issues such as Abortion and the best way to educate our children, framed in our debate should be all the ideas so that we can sort through them and understand the complications these issues may have.
I have heard those that say that the 2nd amendment is dangerous and therefore should be repealed, ever wonder who would really want the American citizen to be defenseless against criminals and anyone invading our homes and our land? Are guns dangerous, maybe in the hands of those who do not understand they are tools and not toys but I would say we have a personal responsibility to insure ourselves that we have the knowledge? I have heard in K-5th grade classes the adage be responsible for you, spoken by every teacher I have ever known, this is good advice for us all. If you do not know how guns should be handled learn and be safe but do not take the right away from those who simply want to protect themselves from a world full of those who would choose to hurt them.
I have heard recently the framing of the freedom of religion argument twisted into freedom from religion, now in this nation you still can choose what you believe in and so can everyone else. We are a strong community of believers in many religions and interestingly enough most citizens understand we must respect each other but it is not respect when atheists choose to attack towns that celebrate Christmas, it is not respect when families who want to speak about Hanukah cannot out of fear. We as Americans have a right to choose our religion, celebrate in any way we choose even if others are watching (within a few boundaries such as that worship does not break civil or criminal law) and if we do not want to join in we have a right to do that also, but what we do not have a right to do is to tell others what is right for them. If a community chooses to put up a nativity scene how is that hurting anyone? Some might be offended I suppose but the right is that we have a right to worship and to speak our religion not we have a right to never be offended by others. Maybe as American adults we should grow up a little and understand the world is not about us as individuals.
We speak about the right not to incriminate ourselves or be searched and then we write laws like the patriot act to allow the government to circumvent those same laws because we feel we are being attacked and want to make it easier for the government to arrest the bad guys. I have some bad news, we just made it easier for the government to arrest us and may have given away our God given rights. It should be difficult to prove a crime and the proof should be on the government, yes some guilty may go free but then again many innocents will stay free.
I could go on but I think I have made my point and ultimately my point is this, Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin both want to protect the American citizen from the government and both believe the Constitution is important and those procedures should be followed as they, are not through partisan rose glasses. Both speak plainly and both are intelligent. I hope the American people both conservative and liberal figure out the establishment of both parties is not the citizens friend and help elect them or those like them so the vast majority of us, American citizens have a voice at last in Washington D.C, So that we can create a time of prosperity again and rebuild this country to its once great heights to all of our benefit.
