Many have argued what is enough for veterans in Washington and the ceiling is set again and again and still veterans are left behind and they are not afforded the time and attention they deserve. I believe that the question should have never been what enough is but what is right. Kant stated that we all know what is inherently right, yet we tend to ignore what is right and do much less. Money is spent by our government everyday for research on things like the mating habits of electric eels and on countries such as Saudi Arabia and yet we cannot find funds to ensure that every man and woman who has given a minimum of four years of their life can live the rest of their lives in some semblance of comfort and peace.
The current administration by all accounts is acting in a criminally neglectful way to the very people that protect them and we as citizens stand by and watch. Our lives as citizens can be difficult and we all have hard times to get through but those very veterans have lived through worse and many did not survive. We as citizens of this nation owe them enough respect to allow them to live in peace. This country can do much better but I believe the current administration would forget every veteran and pay more attention to illegal immigrants.
I have this belief not because of what rhetoric Obama has read off a teleprompter recently but by watching the actions of an inept government, who by all accounts cannot rise to a level of efficiency in either pursuit of the keystone cops. It is time for Congress to turn the tide, change our priorities and start to do what is right, not what is right for our party.
