I would also argue that both parties need to think about impeachment, simply to make the next election fair. As it stands Americans are growing tired of the partisanship that is taking place in the sound bites of many politicians who blindly protect the President, even after he admits to a crime. Americans know if they were to commit a crime no one would have mercy on them, why should they have any for a man who is supposed to stand for the very document he ignores?
When a nationally syndicated writer speaks about the death of our republic we as a people need to take notice and take inventory to see if he is correct. 26 scandals many dealing with our basic freedoms and there are still 2 years left of this President who at first glance seems to have never read the document he taught in Chicago. He has used government offices (IRS,FCC) to attack political views he does not agree with. He has used the NSA to spy on each and every American, which violates several basic rights. He has ignored the constitution when making international deals on several occasions (fast and furious, Gitmo 5) and still we tolerate him, not because the American people are very forgiving but because the Senate belongs to the Democrats and they will not impeach one of their own, even if he is an admitted law breaker.
I say this to the American people, today in some way, calling, emailing, writing a letter, whatever let your senator know that you either agree with the Presidents lawlessness or in turn agree with the loss of your rights or you want the President impeached for his breaking the law. Let’s end the partisanship with an ethical stand, Let them know that either they act or you will not vote for them in the next election.
I for one, as a veteran, did not fight for this country, I fought for a constitutional republic in which freedom was the key principle and although we had problems in the world we understood our God given rights should never be altered. All Senators of Michigan, my Home state can take this declaration as an open letter to them, if you do not support impeachment of the President for his many indiscretions I will not vote for you no matter what party you belong to, in my eyes you would be part of the problem, and changes need to be made.
It is time for us as Americans to take a stand and do what the President has failed to do, draw a line in the sand and then act on it when it is crossed. For me the line was crossed years ago, how about you?
