The freedom of religion falls in this category also, worship as you wish, tell others how you feel and then shut up. You have no right to silence others or stop them from their beliefs as they have no right to stop you and yet too many Americans think they can tell others what to do and what to think. Universities are doing the same thing with talking points that are incredibly one sided and allowing a particular point of view but not others. That is not the job of schools, their job is to teach information correctly without bias and allow students to draw their own conclusions on belief, let’s try that for a change.
We as citizens of this nation (USA) have the right to gather together, voice our opinions, disagree using language but we do not have the right to burn down other people’s property, steel from them as a form of protest and we never will. So anybody who thinks Ferguson was a good idea, think again. You lost the argument the minute you made your point with violent action. It is hard to agree with your point when you set out to take from others in the name of equality, you show you do not want equal, you want more.
All of these above rights were laid out in the first amendment and as Americans we share them together equally, no matter skin color, view point or religion. It would be nice if we as a nation grew up a little and found that peaceful disagreement within the law is possible and a simple disagreement is not the end of the world for either side. When you actions move toward physical confrontation then you have crossed the line even in response to physical confrontation, you have simply become what you stand against. We as citizens need to hold ourselves to a greater standard and set out to create a better world each day for our children and to do this we must find the principles we believe in and hold to them dearly, without fail and without remorse. I for one will never be sorry of my service for this nation and I will never raise my hand in anger against the innocent but my oath of service does not have an expiration date and I will hold true to its words and meaning until my dying day. We all must find that code inside us that makes us better people and forces us to act in that fashion and we certainly must start teaching those standards to our youth and following it ourselves each day.
