This morning I woke up and was reading the news and I see this article from Laura Reyes called: Paul Ryan and the Politics That Turn Stomachs, which caught my eye because I couldn’t figure out if she was serious or not. Although the article was in the Huffington Post, I should have known. First she is the President of the largest public service union in the country and she is affiliated with AFL-CIO. Now AFSCME I have very little problem with other than there need to redistribute wealth through taxes. In the end they seem to want the same things that everyone else wants more jobs, better economy, less government spending. This is why Mrs. Reyes article is such a mystery to me. Paul Ryan made a statement about school lunch programs, that basically this was not a federal government issue, which he is correct. The spending stopped here would save billions for the budget and give the states back their responsibility, yet Mrs. Reyes seems against this. Ok let’s think about this, if the government does not cut this program what do they cut? His idea is not an attack on children but bravo to you Mrs. Reyes for going there. His idea is to cut programs the Federal government should not be involved in and give those responsibilities back to the states, which should have had them to begin with. You want a better budget and economy but you are not willing to do what may be necessary to accomplish this. Paul Ryan should cut that program and every other program that puts a leash on states such as common core, federal money for education, anything that allows the federal government to dictate to the states what they must do and put that money back into the deficit, for the record international spending on countries that have shown this country nothing but contempt should be stopped also, a flat tax should be in place and spending should only proceed as the constitution allows, in the specific 18 areas stated for the federal government, allowing the States to use sales tax to take care of the rest. A sales tax not sin tax by the way. Then most people and companies would pay what they spend or their fair share to the government. A flat tax has no loopholes and eliminates much of the need for the IRS as well as saves processing money all the way around, for the government, for businesses and for citizens. In the future instead of attacking a Senator who is trying to do what you ask by suggesting that progressive ideas stay in place you may want to rethink your position. It seems to me you are OK with big government and government spending as long as you are not the one paying for it.
