The only way this nation will end civil rights issues and start to grow as a nation is when everyone forgets race is an issue, by that I mean stop trying to make things right, you cannot, there is nothing anyone can do that will fix the idea of slavery except possibly never allow it to happen again in any form to anyone. There is nothing anyone can do to make up to minorities how they were treated in the past and if you try you will be just as guilty of the original crime violating another’s civil liberties, this is the exact crime of affirmative action. Affirmative action does not require equality it requires one group to be treated better then another using race as a benchmark and in its attempt to end inequality it creates it again with another group of aggrieved people.
Al Sharpton is not asking the world for equality, he is asking for preferential treatment due to perceived and actual atrocities of the past, something that if done will make Al Sharpton as guilty as any white slaver of violating the civil rights of another race.
Isn’t it time we start acting like adults and realize the only way we move forward is to treat everyone the same, base decisions on their merit, punish law breakers through our system of laws no matter who they are, without using a prism of skin color or religious bias? Mr. King had a dream and it did not require racism in any way, it required us as citizens of this nation to act as if we were colorblind and judge each other on our character not color. Mr Sharpton is asking for this nation to do the exact opposite and as a follower of Mr. Sharpton and by the virtue of his advice our president is also wrongfully walking down this road of civil violation.
No one should be seeking superiority but for the common peace that comes with equality. No one should want a hand out but to live on the sweat of their own brow and by the merit of their work and character, something that is sorely lacking in our nation’s capitol at this moment. It is not on the backs of others I seek to stand but on my own two feet and that is what equality is about, maybe we as a nation should forgive our past, not forget it, because if we forget our own history we are bound to repeat it but say enough is enough and now is the time of peace not because we say it but because we will act in a manner of a peaceful people who agree we are all equal.
On the tenth day of Christmas I give to you Civil Rights and the real meaning of equality.
