Both sides have stopped really communicating with each other and with the public and that is really the tragedy here. They try to represent a people without knowing who the people are and what they think about the issues. I have written several letters to Congress explaining my take on the various problems and each time I received a form letter explaining they are doing what they can. In my mind I see a 24 year old aid in a dark office reading the email and sending out the letter without telling anyone I exist, which in turn my views to my congressman and Senators were never shared with said representatives.
Isn’t that the real crime of Washington? The lack of communication with the public, the lack of concern the public now has, after all most citizens feel ignored by the politicians that represent them. The approval rating for the government is at an all time low but no one is actually doing anything to fix that and that is simply listening to those you represent. If you cannot accomplish that how does anyone believe you can tackle the real problems in this country?
For example the President just asked for 3.7 Billion dollars to handle the border crisis and almost none of that was for securing the border. That is like having a pipe leak in your kitchen and spending money to clean up the floor and then getting mad that the floor is still wet when you’re done. You have to stop the leak before you clean up the mess or the mess will remain, common sense but an approach our current administration does not understand. Most Americans do and because they do they do not approve of the actions of almost any politician. Washington D.C., both parties and employees of the government start using a modicum of common sense and if you do not know how, ask citizens, any citizen they will probably tell you.
