Those structures are under attack, the economy, freedom, personal responsibility and the document that protects them all the constitution. These structures have been weakened by a group of men and women lead by president Obama who feel it is a social necessity for us all to be the same, allowed the same and think the same. At the moment there is a debate going on about religious freedom. I say why, how did we dissolve the ideas of this nation so badly we are left forgetting the first principle that makes us free. That of freedom to believe and worship as we see fit, right or wrong, no one is to take that away from us but now through the guise of discrimination it is under attack and we as citizens are watching our own freedom of religion die on the vine, not because of those who might attack it but because there is too few of us to defend it. We stand afraid we may be called bigot or accused of discriminating against others while those others truly discriminate against us. I say no more, stand up, voice your opinion and praise God in your own way it is our first right and it is necessary for us to have a relationship with God in our own way.
Those that attack us call us bigots because we refuse to change to be like them when in reality we have already chosen our own path, a path with guidelines found in the religious texts we read and usually preaching love and forgiveness. Yet we have encountered those that would take that ability to worship away from us because we will not participate in rituals we do not agree with, we have tolerated them, why do you suppose they do not tolerate us? We choose not to participate and we are called bigots and yet they could go anywhere and find what they need, we can only turn to God.
Religious freedom means we are to tolerate each other equally, it is and always will be a two way street, it was not me that told you not to marry and in fact myself and many like me would say go right ahead but we choose not to be part of that ritual, it is not part of my religion but I wish you Gods grace and Gods speed and all the love one can find on this road called life, I wonder why you do not wish me the same? I have chosen my principles and I have chosen my beliefs and you have chosen yours, why cannot we live in peace and leave each other be? You say by my not participating I am intolerant and I say by you forcing me to participate you are intolerant, why cannot we see each other for the creatures we are, full of fear but trying and help each other as far as we choose to go and understand when we choose not to go any farther. My way of life is not your choice, I understand that and respect it and I mean this to all who are different than myself, please when you see me as different try to understand that I am different and that is OK and choose to live in that understanding rather giving into fear.
A time has come America for us all to make a choice to live by the principles of the Constitution or to let it go. I choose to believe all people are equal to believe and to live as they choose with as little interference as possible. Yet we have created a world of intolerance and a government that feeds the fear and the flames that will eventually destroy us, we can each take a step to change that by fixing our homes and communities, defending ourselves and others weaker than ourselves, our neighbors and friends, by voting into office, all offices from mayor to president and all in between those people who have truly choose to understand the constitution. Maybe then we can all find peace.
