1. This deal comes at a time when Benghazi is heating up and making the President look like he does not care for the troops, suddenly he makes a one sided deal to bring one home, I am glad he did for whatever reason but it sounds like he did this out of self preservation and not noble thought.
2. Congress is already saying he broke the law again to perform this deal, this man has been a captive for 6 years what was so important now that this deal had to be done so quickly that the President forgot again there are laws governing such actions? This also tells me there was some kind of personal gain to be had in political capital for the President and he did not care about the law to get it.
3. Secretary Hagel stated there were health problems that made this important today, I have news for you Mr. Hagel this was important 6 years ago. Why wasn’t a military unit sent to get him? Why wasn’t every effort made before he was sick? My personal opinion is that it did not serve a purpose until the President needed to prove he cared for the troops and it still doesn’t prove that.
In the end we can hunt down those 5 men all over again and any damage they do will be on them as they should have learned what is possible and likely from the US military by now. One American soldier is worth whatever it takes to get him back to his family, this I truly believe but in this case it is 6 years to late.
Note to Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl
Welcome home, I pray for you and your family and thank you for your service and sacrifice. It is an honor being an American knowing that my fellow Americans live up to such a high standard. I wish you and your family well, a safe and quick recover for both your physical and mental health. Sir I salute your courage and your ability to survive. God Bless and God Speed.
