On the Seventh Day of Christmas I give you hope, that is to say I will remind you of the power you as a citizen have to change this nation into something better. We have the power of the vote, which is much like the presidential pen and veto power. If we do not like what we see in the shape of the government we as a people can use our vote to veto their decisions by taking away their position to function.
I recently was told that in the State of New York the people outside the city were mostly conservatives and the people inside the city were mostly liberals, thus giving the liberals a numbers advantage I the state but if all the other people voted for conservative leaders wouldn’t that take away the majority that the people of New York City seem to have? The same is true for the rest of the country and this thought was proven to be true in this last election, the people spoke through their vote and put the conservatives in power. Then as it turned out some of those conservatives turned out to be not so much conservative as they were progressive in nature so in the next election remember who did what and vote accordingly.
The President threatens the GOP daily with his pen and phone, well we the people can do the same, if enough politicians are reminded they serve at the leisure of the people they will begin to act accordingly so as a people we must have a memory longer then a sound bite and we must stay informed, it is our job to do what we feel is right for the nation we live in and the nation we will give to our children one day. Do we want them to become drones getting hand outs from a government that no longer listens or do we want them to have choices and live as fully as possible and be rewarded for their abilities.
So on this the first day of the new year and the seventh day of Christmas I give you hope and that hope rests in your own ability to remember what is right and act accordingly when it comes your turn to either agree or veto the current governments plans through your vote.
